Concept Development
The Obsidiana Project kicked off with a core visual: the stark contrast between a deep, matte black and the sharp brilliance of liquid gold. We weren't just designing clothes; we were building an identity around this powerful duality. The initial goal was to imagine a figure sculpted from these two elements, where form and ornamentation were one and the same.
From there, we built out the narrative for this collection. The aesthetic evolved into a kind of mythic futurism, fusing the hard lines of advanced armor with the organic flow of natural filigree. It’s a look for a being that is both ancient and advanced, conveying a sense of quiet, formidable power without needing to be loud.
Mood board Creation
To lock in the concept, the mood board was intentionally disciplined. We stuck to a strict palette of matte black and high-gloss gold, period. For texture, we pulled references from volcanic rock, polished obsidian, and the intricate patterns on insect carapaces. This visual focus was key—it cut out the noise and ensured every piece would stay true to the central theme.
Final Result
The final result is a collection that is both formidable and intricate. Each piece uses the deep, matte black as a canvas, creating a powerful silhouette that absorbs light. Flowing over this base is the golden, bio-mechanical filigree that defines the collection, appearing to grow organically across the surface. It's a hard-edged look, but all the details are rooted in natural forms.
Ultimately, The Obsidiana Project is an exercise in controlled duality. It's armor that doubles as ornamentation, a look that is both aggressive and elegant. It's our vision of a new kind of power, one that finds its strength in the fusion of the raw and the refined. This is an identity sculpted from shadow and gold.
